Commissioned Work at Schools - Therapists in Schools
Cambridge Acorn Project provides fully qualified, registered therapeutic practitioners to primary and secondary schools across Cambridgeshire enabling schools to support students with quick and direct access to individual and group therapy and counselling. Our “Therapist in Schools” work is grounded in respecting and valuing the voices of children and young people and as such, our therapeutic sessions provide a safe space for children and young people to express anything which may be troubling or worrying them in a gentle and empathic way. Our interventions are based on evidence-based techniques and methods to support students, families, and schools to improve emotional well-being.
Service Overview
Schools receive a dedicated therapeutic practitioner who will work as a dedicated mental health professional delivering direct therapeutic work to students and providing mental health advice to school staff.
4 x 1:1 and/or small group work sessions (45m-1h) can be delivered each day, as well as providing additional support to staff.
The days and frequency are tailored to each schools needs.
Impact
Children and young people rated our work as 9.4 out of 10. 93% of children and young report they would use our services again (the remaining 7% saying maybe). Our recent impact research with children accessing our therapeutic services demonstrates that our work helps children to feel happier, calmer, and less worried as well as improve attendance and engagement.
